Definition
:- A clear, colorless, fuming, poisonous, highly acidic
aqueous solution of hydrogen chloride, HCl, used as a chemical intermediate and
in petroleum production, ore reduction, food processing, pickling, and metal
cleaning. Small amounts of hydrochloric acid are also secreted by the stomachs
of animals for digestion. Also called muriatic acid.

Incompatibilities: A strong mineral
acid concentrated HCL is incompatible with many substance and highly reactive
with strong bases metals , metal oxide , hydroxide , amines and carbonates.
Pharmaceutical
Uses :-
1. Used as a pharmaceutical
acid.
2. Acidifying agent.
Medical Uses :-
1) Hydrochloric acid used is a type of medicine
called a decongestant.
2) Treatment of respiratory
tract , chloride and pain of osteoarthritis of the knee.
3) Used anti-obesity medicine.
